Professor
Mechanical Engineering Department
Technical University of Catalonia-BarcelonaTech
Dra. Jasmina Casals-Terré. Received an M.S. degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of California, Irvine, in 2002 and in 2007 a Ph.D. in design, fabrication, and testing of bistable MEMS switches in Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain. She joined the Faculty of UPC-BarcelonaTech in 2007 and She became a Full Professor in 2020 in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
In 2021, She got an Adjunct Professorship position in Fluid and Experimental Mechanics in the Department of Engineering Sciences and Mathematics at the Luleä University of Technology, Sweden.
She is currently Director of the research group CATMech (Center for Advanced Technologies in Mechanics) at the Technical Univeristy of Catalonia-BarcelonaTech, and Principal Investigator of the Microfluidics Division (MicroTech Lab).
Her research is focused on MEMS and microfluidics, especially in designing, modeling, and manufacturing microfluidic chips for particle separation focused on bioengineering and industrial applications, such as optimized tribology or novel wearable applications in diagnosis. She has more than 20 years of experience in research project management (Leading several European, national, and regional projects) and She has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed papers (most of them in Q1). She holds several patents (some have been licensed and with international extension). She is Editorial Board Member of IEEE Sensors Letters and other journals.
In 2023-24, she was awarded Fulbright scholar and spent 6 months at Florida Polytechnic University and Visiting Professor for a month at Paris-Saclay University.
She has been vice-dean at Aeronautics, audiovisual, and Industrial Engineering School of the Technical University of Catalonia-BarcelonaTech.
She is currently a Board Member of the Institutional Accreditation and Certification of Quality Assurance Agency UNIBASQ. Besides, She collaborates with different National and International Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education.
