Josep Farré is reseacher and part-time professor in Mechanical Engineering Department. In 2004 He graduated as an Industrial Engineer (Mechatronics) from the School of Engineering in Barcelona, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. After finishing his studies he worked 4 years for a wind power manufacturer, initially as a mechanical designer, and afterwards, at the operation department. This background provided him with an extensive vision of the wind turbine life cycle. Later he came back to the University to pursue his PhD in Mechanical Engineering in the field of Microtribology and Microfluidics issued by the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) in 2014. In 2015 He joined the Lulea University of Technology, in Sweden as a Post Doc, to lead the micro tribology team. In 2017 he joined the Technical University of Catalonia (BarcelonaTech) as a researcher in the MicroTech Lab. His current research interests include the improvement of the reliability and efficiency of wind turbines applying microfluidic technology to develop a novel lubrication system useful for wind turbine gears. His research interest focuses on the enhancement of micro tribology through the use of microfluidics and the study of microfluidics flows through micro particle image velocimetry.
