Microfluidics meets Water treatment methodologies to tackle microplastics

Recent events such as the "Small particles, big concerns” hold on December 6th, 2023, at the European Parliament underscore the pressing need for collaborative research and innovative solutions to tackle the serious issue of microplastics, whose long-lasting nature necessitate urgent action to develop innovative solutions.

The proposed project being developed in the MicroTech Lab division in CATmech takes a multifaceted approach, combining collaborative research in Europe through the UNITE Innitiative that combines the expertise from MicroTech-UPC, EPM Lab in SIMaP (Grenoble-INP) and ChiLab-POLITO and joint PhD programs to foster expertise, broad dissemination of findings to raise awareness and encourage action, and continued field research to refine our microfluidics technology in real-world settings.

But due to the globallity of the project, the project is also funded by the Fulbright initiative to foster the collaboration between the Fulbright Grantee Prof. Jasmina Casals-Terré and Florida Polythecnic Univeristy in Lakeland Florida.
This project plan to leverage collaborative partnerships and knowledge dissemination activities to further advance microplastic detection and removal technologies.
